10 diferentes especies de plantones autóctonos han sido introducidos en las zonas dunares “La Víbora” – Elviria y “Palm Beach” – Reserva de los Monteros. Nuestra Asociación está haciendo seguimiento activo al crecimiento y confiamos que en pocos años se habrá creado un nuevo eco-sistema de flora autóctona y fauna silvestre.

2012 – A TESTIMONY OF TIME

10 different species of native seedlings were introduced into the sand dunes areas of  “La Víbora” – Elviria and “Palm Beach” – Reserva de los Monteros. Our Association is actively monitoring their growth and we are confident that in a few years a new native flora and fauna ecosystem will have emerged in these areas.

2012 – ZEUGNIS IN DER ZEIT

10 verschiedene einheimische Pflanzen-Arten wurden in den Dünen-Zonen “La Víbora” in Elviria und “Palm Beach” in Reserva de los Monteros eingeführt. Unsere Vereinigung hilft bei der Entfaltung der Pflanzen aktiv mit und hofft, dass sich in wenigen Jahren ein neues Öko-System für Flora und Fauna herausbildet.

AZUCENA - Pancratium maritimum

Se encuentra en todas las zonas dunares del Municipio de Marbella. Florece entre agosto y octubre. Las hojas son verdes antes de la floración y marchitan con la flor. La flor muere al cortarla, por lo que no sobrevive en un florero.

La semilla es abundante. Su color es negro y parece carbón tanto por el tacto como por su apariencia. Se dispersa muy bien con el viento, lo que favorece su desarrollo en arenales costeros.

SEA DAFFODIL - Pancratium maritimum

It can be found in all the sand dune areas of the municipality of Marbella. Flowering is from August to October. The leaves are green before flowering, and wither with the flower. The sea daffodil dies when cut off, so it does not survive in a vase.

The seed is abundant. Its colour is black, and it is very much like charcoal, both to the touch as in appearance. Propagation by seeds is easy in windy weather, which favours its development in coastal sands.

DÜNEN-TRICHTERNARZISSE - Pancratium maritimum

Wir finden sie in allen Dünen-Zonen der Gemeinde Marbella. Sie blüht zwischen August und Oktober. Die Blätter sind grün und verdorren mit dem Blühen. Die Blumen sterben beim Pflücken ab und können deshalb als Blumenstrauss nicht überleben.

Die Samen sind schwarz und sehen der Kohle ähnlich. Wegen ihrem leichten Gewicht werden sie vom Wind weitergetragen, was zu ihrer Verbreitung im Sand beiträgt.

3ª CAMPAÑA DE ERRADICACIONES DE LA FLORA
EXÓTICA INVASIVA UÑA DE GATO (Carpobrotus Edulis)

La iniciativa promovida por nuestra Asociación y apoyada por el Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Marbella cuenta ya con la tercera convocatoria y  participación de los estudiantes de diferentes Institutos de Enseñanza Secundaria de Marbella.

Los alumnos, mediante fichas, aprenden a reconocer el terreno dunar y a diferenciar las especies invasoras, entre los que cuentan la Uña de gato (Carpobrotus edulis), pitas, plumeros o la mimosa falsa de  las autóctonas, que se deben conservar como es el caso de la camamilla amarga (Helichrysum spoechas) o la Azucena de mar y muchas más.

El propósito de éstas jornadas didácticas es la activa concienciación de los estudiantes acerca de los frágiles eco-sistemas en el Municipio marbellí.

Un año más damos las gracias a los Institutos y alumnos que han participado en esta labor de sensibilización. Queda mucha planta invasora a lo largo del litoral marbellí y sólo con campañas de concienciación se podrá lograr su erradicación y fomentar la sobrevivencia de la flora autóctona.

Plantas jóvenes introducidas en las dunas “La Adelfa” Bahía de Marbella, Marbella en el año 2005 y floreciendo por primera vez en Junio del 2011. Les gusta crecer en entornos dunares y sotobosques de pinares y encinares.

Es considerada como “Símbolo del Amor y de la Belleza” y sus hojas, flores y frutos son empleados en Perfumería por su fragancia maravillosa

MIRTO  (MYRTUS COMMUNIS)

Young plants were introduced into the sand dunes “La Adelfa” Bahía de Marbella, Marbella in the year 2005 and flourished for the first time in June of 2011. They thrive in sand dunes and the undergrowth of pine and oak woods.

It is considered a “Symbol of Love and Beauty”, and its leaves, flowers and fruit are used in perfumery for their wonderful fragrance

Debido a una tala no autorizada por terceros,  técnicos de la Consejería Provincial de Medio Ambiente han tenido que efectuar trabajos de conservación y limpieza en este hermoso ejemplar de Acebuche. Este arbusto de olivo representa un alto valor del patrimonio natural para los residentes y Marbella.

 JORNADA DE FORMACIÓN - PROGRAMA ANDALUZ

PARA EL CONTROL DE LAS ESPECIES EXÓTICAS INVASORAS (EEI)

y ERRADICACIONES DE PLANTAS EXÓTICAS INVASORAS

Dentro de la Gestión Integral para la Erradicación de Plantas Exóticas Invasoras se planifican varios encuentros de voluntarios y colaboradores de la Red de Voluntarios Ambientales del Litoral Andaluz. Estos talleres prácticos se desarrollan a lo largo del Municipio Este de Marbella. En Abril y Mayo han trabajado: Escolares de varios Institutos de Marbella, Voluntarios de nuestra Asociación, Técnicos Ambientales de la Delegación de Medio Ambiente del Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Marbella, Técnicos de la Consejería de Medio Ambiente e Inspectores de Medio Ambiente de la Junta de Andalucía.

Con la Jornada de Formación en Torremolinos - 30 de Mayo – organizado por la Secretaria Técnica del Aula del Mar, Málaga e impartido por Biólogos de la Facultad de Ciencias del Mar y Ambientales, Cádiz así como con el taller práctico de erradicación de “Carpobrotus edulis” (Uña de gato), en la zona dunar “Real de Zaragoza-Tiempo libre”, se ha terminado la temporada primaveral de erradicaciones oficiales.

El grupo de participantes en la erradicación se constituía por Voluntarios Ambientales, quienes se habían desplazado incluso desde Almería, Huelva y Cádiz. Se erradicaron:

810 kg (54 sacos grandes)  de Carpobrotus edulis (Uña de gato)

El Ayuntamiento de Marbella – Playas - se encargó de la recogida de los sacos y de efectuar el correspondiente transporte

para la destrucción de la planta invasora erradicada.

Nuestro agradecimiento va a todos los “Voluntarios” participantes e involucrados en la sensibilización del

litoral dunar y su flora autóctona.

A partir de Octubre se reanudarán los talleres de Erradicación de las Especies Exóticas Invasoras (EEI) a lo largo de 17km hasta llegar al Monumento Natural Artola-Cabopino.

 TRAINING DAY – ANDALUSIAN PROGRAMME

 FOR THE CONTROL OF EXOTIC INVASIVE SPECIES

and

ERADICATION OF EXOTIC INVASIVE PLANTS

Within the framework of the management of the eradication of Exotic Invasive Plants, several meetings are programmed for volunteers and the collaborators of the Andalusian Coast Environment Volunteers Network. These practical workshops are held along the municipality of Eastern Marbella. In April and May the following volunteers have been working: Pupils of several high schools of Marbella, Volunteers from our Association, Technicians from the office for the Environment of the Town Hall of Marbella, Technicians from the Regional Ministry for the Environment, and Environmental Inspectors from the Regional Government (Junta de Andalucia)

With the Training Day in Torremolinos – 30^th of May -, organized by the Technical office of the “Aula del Mar” in Málaga, and the practice workshop for the eradication of “Carpobrotus edulis” (Highway Ice plant) at the foot of the dunes area of  “Real de Zaragoza-Tiempo libre”, the official spring eradication season has come to an end, with a total collection of:

54 large sacks, with amounts to approximately 810 kg

The Town Hall of Marbella – Beaches section- was in charge of the transportation and destruction of the collected invasive plants.

We thank the entire “Volunteers” that took part and are involved in raising the awareness on the dunes areas

along the andalusian beaches and its indigenous flora.

From October, the Eradication of Exotic Invasive Species (EIS) workshops will be on again, along 17 km, all the way to

 the Natural Monument of Artola-Cabopino

2009 - TODOS LOS MARTES por las mañanas

A partir de Abril, equipos del Voluntariado de nuestra Asociación, de la Consejería de Medio Ambiente de la Junta de Andalucía así como del M.I. Ayuntamiento de Marbella, han iniciado trabajos de Erradicaciones y Restauraciones de habitats en las zonas dunares del Municipio de Marbella, desde la playa del Cable (Pinillo) hasta el linde del Municipio de Marbella (17km) del Monumento Natural de Artola (Cabopino).

Invitamos a todos los “Amigos de las dunas” de colaborar con nuestro grupo de base en estos trabajos.

Se dará la bienvenida a todos los amantes de la naturaleza que quieran sentirse útil en bien de la preservación y conservación de los habitats autóctonos, aunque sea esporádicamente y para 2 horas cada vez cuando sea posible.

  ERADICATION OF INVASIVE EXOTIC PLANTS AND RESTORATION OF THE COASTAL HABITAT

2009 – EVERY TUESDAY morning

From April on, Volunteer groups from the Association as also from the Regional Ministry for the Environment of the Junta de Andalucía and the Town hall of Marbella, have started works of Eradication and Restoration of the coastal habitats in areas with dunes along the Municipality of Marbella, from the beach El Cable (Pinillo) until 17km further on to Cabopino “Monumento Natural de Artola”.

All “Friends of the dunes” are invited to join our base team

Everybody who feels the aim to protect and preserve the nature habitats is well received, even if only sporadically, and for two hours at a time, whenever possible.

ERRADICACIÓN de PLANTAS INVASORAS: ACACIA SALICINA y PLUMEROS

La proliferación de especies invasoras, o alóctonas están dañanando, de modo irreversible, a las especies autóctonos existentes en la zona dunar de Bahía de Marbella. La extraordinaria capacidad de adaptación se ha convertido en una amenaza que está provocando la extinción o crecimiento de las especies autóctonas existentes. Esta propiedad de ser invasoras se determina por su capacidad de reproducirse de manera incontrolada y feroz.

La definición de una especie exótica invasora es aquella que, extraída de su medio original es capaz de adaptarse, vivir, competir y reproducirse en otro lugar distinto a su lugar oriundo, produciendo en este proceso de adapción un efecto negativo sobre el medio y la flora local.

La resultante pérdida de biodiversidad con la consiguiente alteración del funcionamiento invasor silencioso de los ecosistemas afectados, supone un deber proteccionista de la Asociación, seguir las directrices de Medio Ambiente y elaborar programas de erradicación de éstas especies invasoras, como en este caso son:

- Acacia Salicina (Mimosaceae)

- Plumeros de la Pampa (Cortaderia selloana)

El Plumero de la Pampa puede alcanzar un desarrollo impresionante y puede alcanzar 3,5 m de diámetro y 4 m de altura. Sus semillas son dispersadas por el viento hasta cerca de 30 Kms. Por ello presenta un carácter invasor con carácter dominante y su presencia en zonas dunares representa un riesgo potencial para el mantenimiento del habitat silvestre y autóctono.

Eliminando las dos especies en las zonas dunares, garantizamos un crecimiento de vegetación silvestre (ver la fotografía: aspecto y la ausencia de vegetación creado por una planta invasora)

AUTHORITY and PRESERVATION OF THE DUNES AREA “BAHIA DE MARBELLA”, Marbella

ERADICATION of INVASIVE PLANTS: WILLOW ACACIA and PAMPAS GRASS

The proliferation of invasive plants, or alloctonous plants is causing irreversible damage to the existing native species in the dunes area of Bahia de Marbella. The extraordinary capacity to adapt of these invasive plants has turned them into a real threat, causing the extinction or preventing the development of the existing native species. This property of invasiveness is determined by their capacity to propagate uncontrollably.

The definition of an exotic invasive species is a species removed from its native habitat and is capable of adapting, living, competing and propagating in another habitat, and causing a negative effect on the native flora.

The resulting loss of bio-diversity with a subsequent alteration with the silent invasion of the affected eco-systems, implies for our Association a duty to protect, follow the directives of the Office for the Environment, and prepare an eradication schedule of the invasive species, in this case:

Willow Acacia (Mimosacea)

Pampas Grass (Cortadeira Selloana)

The Pampas grass is capable of amazing development and can reach 3,5 m diameter and 4m height. The seeds are spread by the wind up to 30 km away. Therefore, its invasive property is dominant and its presence in dunes areas is a potential threat to preservation of the native habitat.

By removing these two species from the dunes, we can guarantee the growth of the native wild vegetation
